Dems Must Learn to Help People AND Take Credit for What They Do AND Let People Know They’ve Been Conned by the GOP

That’s it. The title is pretty much the whole article. Dems need to learn to do those things and then we’ll be in good, or at least much better, shape. No more letting GOP control our national messaging so that people love the Affordable Care Act but hate ObamaCare — because the GOP told them thousands of times that Obama was an evil person.

No more “Dems have ignored the white working class” even though Dems knocked themselves out to get health care coverage and other benefits for that group and others — while the GOP tried to screw them over constantly. But then white working class people think Dems are the ones who did nothing for the public, because the GOP told them so — thousands of times, through Right Wing disinformation media.

Dems — or other groups acting on the Dems behalf — need to learn some ways to help the 74 million voters to see that they’ve been conned, lied to and cheated by the Republican party.

Dem leaders and their consultants are stuck in their old habits from decades ago and don’t seem to learn much of anything about campaigning or messaging.

So Don Winslow, Meidas Touch, VoteVets or some of the other anti-Trump and pro-Biden people and groups that did messaging for Joe Biden — without being asked to or given credit for it — will need to step up again.

Indivisible, Moveon and other organizations often step up and do the things Dems need done but are not able to do for themselves. Grassroots GOTV efforts appear in various states and local areas and carry a lot of the load of work also. People who want to donate to Dem campaigns should likely donate at least a percentage of their donations to the organizations that are actually effective in doing the work.

Here’s another interesting organization that’s doing work on economic messaging. I just found out about this one today but will be checking out its work to see if it’s another group picking up the work that people think the DNC should do but it never does.

If you find any other organizations doing the sort of work I’m writing about here, please list them in the comments section and I’ll check them out and will perhaps edit this essay to include them here. Thanks.

Here’s a previous essay I wrote that lists all the new kinds of institutions that I could think of so far, that liberals need. Some of them could be under one organization. Alternatively, separate organizations could do separate functions — just as several different organizations and people did messaging — and only messaging — for Biden’s campaign.

Open Letter to Liberal Donors: Please Consider Donating to Create Missing Liberal Institutions

Perhaps the institution we need most would be the Organization for Tracking GOP Crimes — as well as other cheating, corruption, all the different forms of voter suppression and voting system insecurity, lies and conspiracy theories.

Also, liberals should track GOP behaviors that are being done to try to drain every drop of power from Democratic officials at the federal, state or local level. The move now (December 19, 2020) to end the Federal Reserve’s emergency powers — so the Fed would be powerless to respond to emergencies during Biden’s presidency — is only one such move. The GOP does this constantly, both to paralyze Dems who have been elected, and to use the results as a talking point in Right Wing media and mainstream media. The GOP calls Democrats a “do nothing” party while failing to mention that the GOP tied the Democratic leaders’ hands.

I’m hoping we can all look forward to these new institutions being created — organizations that can pick up the work that remains undone — work that is crucial for saving democracy.
